About typeQ

Written by Super User

We are here!

We are queer. We are local. We are part of a community-powered news site dedicated to letting queers in Ottawa know what’s happening in and around Ottawa.

typeQ is your local news source. A website for following news stories, a calendar to highlight events, an editorial sounding board, a platform for artists and activists, a resource for parents, youth and seniors, a portal into the entertainment scene and a place to pitch stories.

We would like to extend a warm invitation to attend the live launch of typeQ, on Tuesday, June 12, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at 103 Cambridge Street N, Ottawa.

The launch will be an opportunity to welcome community members and potential contributors to our new online space, typeQ. Our website is a independent community-powered news site, launched by Dorothy’s Closet, that will focus on news, health, arts, entertainment, cultural and other events happening in Ottawa and the surrounding areas.

For the past four years Dorothy's Closet has been a portal into the queer community, showcasing community events and providing information on various community resources, queer-friendly businesses, books and movie reviews, and videos. With the launch of typeQ we intend to take community news beyond the margins.
