British Columbia will be the first province to introduce a new HIV test following the results of a BC Centre for Disease Control study. The study, conducted over four years, found Nucleic acid amplification testing (NAAT) improves the diagnosis of early or acute HIV infection.
NAAT can detect if a person has contracted the virus in less than 14 days after they have been exposed.
